  • You've left off Bret, "Fickleinburg" which perhaps unsurprisingly, was inundated after the Norfork Dam left it well, underwater after the fact.

Too, a Civil War (military) map shows a "Dogwater Arkansas."

Family lore - in letters - informs me the locals referred to the former as "Fickle" but there's no available info whether the latter was ever touted as I suspect, "Dogp*ss" owing to a legend the former bear-hunting founder's favorite scripture was, reputedly, 2 Kings 18:27.

Obviously Bret, you've research assets unavailable to myself - might you ahem, clear the matter up?

  • HDrucker -- I have an "Arkansas Atlas & Gazetteer" -- published by Delorme -- Topo maps of the entire state of Arkansas -- 64 topo maps in all -- very detailed, extensive index -- U.S. Geological Survey maps

  • Eh ... Bret?

More than "somewhat" off-topic but, this I think would seem to be right up your alley:
