I Love Sports and OutdoorsPosted Sunday, April 5, 2009, at 7:43 PM
There is BIG NEWS in the Outdoors this week. The news that affects me in many cases also affects you.
Let's start with Baseball. The Royals will be broadcast on KHOM 100.9 for 140 evening and weekend games. You can go to threeriversdailynews.com for details as they become available on dates and times. This will be good news for Royal fans all over the area. On a personal note. Saturday I took my 12 year old grandson to baseball practice Saturday morning in West Plains, after his youth turkey hunt with his uncle, and it was very exciting. I know it was just practice, but his physical and mental growth is what gets grandpa's attention. It also makes Grandpa proud when the coaches are so impressed. At the same time we are practicing the 8 year old grandson is in a 9 and 10 year old Tournament and the team from West Plains and they won it defeating Rolla and Joplin teams at Strafford, MO. Not to slight my Grand Daughter, she won some awards showing her horse in North Arkansas. So that covers the proud Grandpa and the outdoors. It appears that the GOOD crappie bite is just moments away and could get serious any moment, so keep hitting the bank and the 10 foot water. Of course you should lean toward the pea gravel banks and flats in the backs of creeks. I was at Boxhound Marina Saturday AM and the Good Bite had not started yet, but it could start any time on Crown Lake. Of course as the real Turkey Hunters know that this weekend is the beginning of the Arkansas Season and there is a good chance for even a lazy hunter like me could get one. Ah! The races Saturday night at the West Plains Motor Speedway. The first points night and the premier of the Fastrac Late Models. The crowd was good and the action one of the most exciting in recent memory. The late model feature ended a photo finish, as did the Modified feature. The Super Stock feature win went to the same guy that won it in 2008, Dee Kelly of Birch Tree. This is not a race report, so if you want all the details tune in to 100.9 on Monday morning at 9 AM or if your too late for that, go to www.westplains-speedway.com. That's all for now and thanks for sharing my world. |
