More Spring and more to doPosted Sunday, April 19, 2009, at 11:03 AM
Saturday night at the speedway a friend shared 2 photos of crappie that were in the 2 to 3 pound class and made me just a little jealous. But life is what it is and I'll have to suffer thru all the fun I'm not getting to have and settle for all the fun I am having. As I always say, "It's tough all over."
Speaking of the Speedway. We had the MARS and MSRA late models and the weather was typical Ozark spring time. But in between showers we had an incredible track and great late model action. I saw one of the best passes that I can remember. First let me set up the scene. In my office at the track there were not one, not two, not three, but four race announcers, and three were in radio. Well needless to say there was lots of talking going on and all four of us were great race fans. In the fourth heat of the DLRA/MSRA challenge, a racer I know, and a good friend to one of my good friends, was starting in the rear and had some real tough competition ahead. Well, the announcer on point called him Will "The Thrill" Vaught, and man was that prophetic. In the first lap, Will mixed it up and got thru three and on turns 3 and 4 he made the most awesome three wide passes I have ever seen. You talk about hanging it out on the edge!!! You know I've seen Terry Phillips make some pretty unbelievable passes, but this really was out there and I have no idea what kept him out off the wall. All the racing was great that night because the track was so right. Thanks again Don. Local cars kept the excitement up as the traveling show loaded up and headed to Monett Speedway. Just a note to my race fan friends in Salem, it appears that their good friend Robby Arnold of Paragould, AR will be racing weekly at the WPMS and has been there the previous 2 weeks and already won a feature. Speaking of flat landers. My Friend, Tony Anglin came up from Walnut Ridge and won the Super Stock feature. The local guys are going to have to work a little harder, and to be fair, the local guys made it very tough for anybody in particular to win any race. The Youth hobby is starting off good. Last year it was the Kyle Duke, Ben Piper rivalry and this year it's the A J Smith, Dakota Frost, and Jared Duke competition. The excitement continues in the 13 to 15 year old division. Those two from last year didn't go away. They moved up to the Hobby Class with dads and uncles and etc..... And so far they have done very well. That's enough excitement for now. Got any questions? Let me know. |
