Losing your fishing buddyPosted Sunday, May 31, 2009, at 10:24 PM
Not too long after coming home from the Races Saturday night it happened. I lost my fishing buddy. He was a skilled fisherman, a gentleman, and a faithful friend. Yes that stinking cancer took another one and it leaves us always wandering who is next. As most of you know, I lost my go to guy last week. Don't feel sorry for me, but we should thank God for giving a home to those he said he would. The families will suffer as we humans do, but the influences will keep them on our hearts. If it were possible, I'd tell Gary to save some for me, cause the fishing must be great in Heaven..................
I went to KC for the Royals affiliates day and it was my first, and quite impressive. I had a short temporary meeting with the G M and ask him how many of those being drafted would be from the college ranks and he said about five percent. I also found out that the current Royal lineup is quite young and the hottest topic was a certain young pitcher. The best part was the next day at the 9 and 10 year old baseball tourney at Strafford, MO. The West Plains Sluggers won their 3rd Tourney in a row. Their ultimate goal is to compete and win the Show-Me Games. Yes I have a Grandson and 2 Great Nephews on the team. I have a personal interest. On the race scene, the racing was excellent Saturday night and the Super Stocks preparing for the Firecracker Special on the 4th of July made the show. Modified driver Shawn Walsh just keeps winning, and crowds continue to grow. I will get back on the profiles as soon as I can. The last Saturday in June will be the Mid-Season Championship and a special tribute to Larry Piper #13. I invite anyone to bring pictures or stories of memories to share with friends and family. I hope everyone has a great week and God Bless you all............. |
