Tragedy strikes everywhere

Posted Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at 2:56 PM

Trials and Tragedy can strike anywhere and anytime, but it's never easy. This Saturday night as I'm working at the races the news comes pouring in and just kept coming. While we are all preparing for the 3 day Modified special this coming weekend, the news started with a notice that my announcer friend at Mountain Home was taking care of his wife in the hospital in Springfield after she was seriously injured went a semi ran a red light and T-boned his daughter's new car. Then we were notified that a local race car owner was in OMC with a fever and at that time unknown issues.

Then the announcement was made that a racer from Bono, AR had to move his 20 something daughter to hospice with tumors.

Well that sounds pretty tough and I can't imagine his heartbreak.

Then late in the evening as two features are left. I get a call that my dad had been taken to OMC after a fall at the horseshow and suffered 3 broken ribs. Normally I would get home about 12:30, but not this time. It was 6am and I snoozed till about 10am. And here we are with the blog and trying to imagine the pain and suffering of the victims and the families.

This Friday I will speak at the funeral of an old dear friend who was another victim of cancer. Of course my week will be nearly bizarre. A week of work at the radio station, three nights at the races, 2 days of youth baseball tournaments with grandsons, a funeral, one night at the Sharp County Fair calling a Hog show, and my youngest Grandson's 9th birthday party. To top it all off, plenty of time with my dad at the hospital, and maybe a Lion's Club Outdoor Adventures Sportshow committee meeting.

I may even sleep sometime. Don't feel sorry for me, but do pray for those families and victims of the tragedies mentioned, and by the way, there are many more than these. Be active and serve someone else in need, and if it requires no sacrifice on your part, it ain't serving. God Bless You All!
