A multi-alarm fire in Thayer over the weekend has destroyed the Oregon County Country Music Theater that has hosted local and national acts alike. The theater, also known as the Boren Center, and originally the Thayer Assembly of God Church, was completely destroyed by the Saturday morning fire. The fire in the building, which had stood for over 100 years, started around 11 a.m. Volunteer Fire Department Fire Fighters from Thayer, Mammoth Spring, Alton, Lanton, Koshkonong, Rover and the ladder truck from from the West Plains Fire Department helped knock down and contain the blaze. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation. See our photo gallery of the blaze and read this week's edition of The South Missourian News for updated information.
