One of the former members of Salem's VFW Post 9777, Wes Doggett, had visions of a memorial wall honoring veterans, according to post member Gene Maguffee.But Doggett got sick. He moved to Iowa and died before the project got started.Family members donated $500 to the VFW to help fund a memorial project in his name.Doggett's dream and that of other members of the post will become a reality in the year 2002, Maguffee said.Construction of the Veterans Wall of Honor is scheduled to begin this spring on the grounds of the VFW.Granite bricks can be purchased for the price of $25 each with the name of a military veteran etched in it. ...

Izard County Judge Eddie Cooper announced at the Nov. 6 quorum court meeting that he and the justices had some good news -- Baxter Regional Medical Center will be providing emergency medical ambulance services to Izard County residents.
