Speeds exceeded 100 mph Nov. 16 during a chase by wildlife officers in pursuit of a hunting violation suspect in northern Fulton County on Hill String Road, north of Viola. Officers pursued Kurtis Neal, 30, the driver of a 1998 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck, after he allegedly fired a rifle at a deer decoy, said Sgt. Cherokee Village voters selected a new mayor Nov. 26. Street Superintendent Ray Maynard, who emphasized the need to cooperate with the Suburban Improvement District, defeated incumbent Mayor Marjorie Rogers. Maynard received 985 votes (59 percent), Rogers 687 (41 percent). Although the vote was close in Fulton County where Rogers lives (Maynard 150, Rogers 144), Maynard carried the more populated Sharp County by a wide margin (835 to 543)...
