Bears step short of district tourney title (02/21/08)
You don't win championships without taking care of the basics. Things like rebounding, controlling the clock, hitting open layups and knocking down free throws. The Viola Longhorns did all these things, all in the last three minutes of a tightly-contested game, to win the 1A-2 North District Tournament title, 48-45, over the Mammoth Spring Bears Feb. 15 at Williford High School...
Panthers no match for dominant Cougars (02/21/08)
The Izard County Cougars had little use for suspense or drama in the championship game of the 1A-2 South District Tournament Feb. 16 at Melbourne High School. Liars, congressmen make for bad viewing (02/21/08)
I always knew there was a good reason I never watched C-SPAN. I just didn't know what that reason was until last week. Trying to sit through ESPN's televised production of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform's four-and-a-half hour grilling of Roger Clemens and Brian McNamee was kind of like trying to perform dentistry on oneself; it was both painfully uncomfortable and highly unneccesary at the same time...
Lady Cats win big (02/21/08)
The Mountain Grove Lady Panthers made the trip to Thayer Feb. 14 looking to post a victory in South Central Association play.
