BREAKING NEWS Body of drowning victim recovered near Buford Beach (08/08/11)
Efforts by local emergency personnel to rescue a 15-year-old Jonesboro boy, turned into a recovery effort after a search was called off late Aug. 7 and resumed Aug. 8, where the boy's body was recovered near Buford Beach in Hardy. Divers discovered the body with the aid of an underwater camera shortly after 8 a.m. Aug. 8 and began efforts to dislodge it from the falls near Buford Beach.
Non-ambulatory deer hunt application deadline Aug. 15 (08/08/11)

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is taking applications from non-ambulatory hunters who would like to participate in a special muzzleloader deer hunt Oct. 24-26 in Ozark Isle Park at Bull Shoals Lake. Food/shelter groups urged to apply for funds (08/08/11)
Oregon County has been awarded federal funds under the emergency food and shelter national board program. The national board, chaired by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), made the selection.
