Carl R. Besher, 39, of Piedmont, died at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 3 when the 1987 Freightliner tractor trailer he was driving overturned on Route J, six miles south of Fremont. According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, the trailer skidded out of control on a curve, causing the truck to overturn. Besher was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene by deputy coroner Eric McSpadden. Besher's body was taken to McSpadden Funeral Home in Van Buren...

It just shows you how bad things are when the one thing we could always depend on, the mail service, is staggering and heading for a big fall. It is often easy for us to think, hidden up here in the Ozark hills, that we are insulated from a lot of the national economic turmoil, but we are feeling the U. S. Postal Service problems big time.
