The Ash Flat Fire Department spent the day on Oct. 20 visiting area day cares for National Fire Prevention Week. Ash Flat Fire Chief Stacy Horton and Captain Adam Bates took a fire truck and equipment to Mrs. Melissa and Mrs. Shay's Preschools in Ash Flat to explain fire safety, including having a safe place, stop drop and roll and helping children overcome fears of firefighters, clothed in turnout gear.
