Renovations begin at old nursing home (03/10/12)
On March 5, inmates from the North Central Unit state prison at Calico Rock removed metal roofing from the old nursing home on Main Street. The work is the first step toward the start of construction of a $1.2 million dollar jail later this year. County crews will soon demolish a portion of the west wing of the former nursing home. The new jail will sit to the rear of the building and be connected by a walkway, so that the jail can use nursing home kitchen and laundry facilities...
