It's one thing for a team to do what they do well when conditions are perfect, but it's another to stay on course when conditions change. Wind and rain had a major effect on both offenses, when Highland took on Valley View on Friday, Oct. 5. Two SCA high school teams, with very similar styles of play, went head to head at Louis Bozeman football field for the Oct. 5 edition of "Friday night lights." The home standing Thayer Bobcats took the opening kick off and marched down the field. The 2012 Arkansas girls golf state championships are in the books, and those books look good for golf teams and athletes in Fulton and Izard counties. The Salem Greyhounds put on a great showing and brought home a silver medal, after finishing second in the Class 2A State Tournament. Senior McKenzie Jewell shot an even 100 on the course, and was named All-State. Senior Savannah Henley shot 116. Just two strokes behind Henley was sophomore Kendra Pendergrass. It was a gorgeous day to host the Medic Golf Scramble at the South Golf Course in Cherokee Village on Saturday, Sept. 8. Sixty players on 30 area teams could not have asked for a finer day to compete for fun and a to support the local Spring River Ambulance Service...
Ozarka College Board hosts golf tournament (10/10/12)
The Ozarka College Foundation Board hosted its annual golf tournament at Cooper's Hawk Golf Course Saturday, Sept. 29, in Melbourne. There were 27 teams that competed in this year's event that raised scholarship funds for Ozarka College students. A long standing Oregon County rivalry between the Alton Comets and Thayer Bobcats came to Red Overstreet softball field in Thayer for the last scheduled game of the 2012 softball season.
