You may not realize it, but a major project to improve Salem's sewer system has been underway for more than a month. The work to upgrade the sewage treatment plant and replace a 47-year old main sewer line is being paid for with federal funds set aside to repair damage from 2008's Hurricane Ike. Rain from that storm caused the treatment plant to flood and further damaged the old sewer line, which a consultant called "a severe threat to the health and welfare of the community."... -

Three Fulton County 4Hers, Leah Wasson, Luke Huett and Perri Huett, recently placed second in the Arkansas Grassland Evaluation Contest near Conway, with Perri Huett also recognized for being the overall high scoring individual.
