Harold Justin Barnes, 78, of Highland, died Oct. 12, 2007, at his residence. He was born Oct. 11, 1929, in Omaha, Neb., the son of Harold Snowden Barnes and Irene Evelyn (Applegate) Barnes.
He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and also of the United States Coast Guard. While in the U.S. Coast Guard he had worked at a lighthouse keeper. He worked many years as a carpenter before retiring.He is survived by: his wife, Kimberly Barnes of the home; three sons, Mitchell McClure of Tulsa, Okla., Nicholas McClure of Highland, and Kirk Barnes of Arizon; two daughters Gail Dean of Cathedral City, Calif., and Sandy Schmidt of Layton, Utah; two sisters, Margarget Falconberg of Fountain Hills, Ariz., and Joanne Cason of Cherokee Village; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.There are no services planned at this time.Arrangements were by the Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland, Ark.
