Allen B. Bonsall, age 75, of Horseshoe Bend, Ark., passed away at the North Arkansas Life Care Center in Horseshoe Bend March 20, 2003.
He was a retired minister with the North Arkansas Conference United Methodist Church. He was also a sergeant with the United States Air force during World War II and kept active in the community with the Horseshoe Bend Lions Club International and AARP Chapter 1420. He was president of Horseshoe Bend Police Auxiliary, EMS ambulance driver and was a member of Masonic Lodge 140 in Clarinda, Iowa. He was a former chaplain of American Legion of Horseshoe Bend.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Leona of the home; one son, James Allen of Norphlet, Ark.; two daughters -- Vicki Lynn (Mrs. Clyde E.) Packer of Mountain Home, Ark., and Judith Ann (Mrs. Michael) McCulloch of Houston, Texas; three sisters -- Vera Tina (Mrs. LaVon) Herzeberg of Colorado Springs, Colo., Janice Jean (Mrs. Keith) Wilson of Clarinda, Iowa, and Martha Bertha (Mrs. William) Martin of North Kansas City, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce Allen and Katherine Bonsall.
Memorial services were held March 22 at the United Methodist Church in Horseshoe Bend with Rev. Everett Isom officiating. Burial will be at a future date. Arrangements are under the direction of Horseshoe Bend Memorial Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be made to Horseshoe Bend United Methodist Church and the Lions Club of Horseshoe Bend.
