Archie Carl Bowser, 84, of Batesville, Ark., died June 10, 2007, at the White River Medical Center in Batesville. He was born on Oct. 23, 1922, the son of the late Harry C. and Catherine Ashworth Bowser in Brookville, Ohio.
He was a farmer most of his life and was in many farmers organizations in Ohio such as the Dixie Grange, the International Organization of the Odd Fellows and Farm Bureau. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was stationed in South America. He was a member of the Central Avenue United Methodist Church in Batesville.Survivors include: his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Bowser of the home; one son and daughter-in-law Rodney and Rena Bowser of Evening Shade; one daughter and son-in-law Christine and Steve Wheaton of Jasper, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Steven Joe Wheaton of Jasper, N.Y., Brian Bowser of Melbourne, Donnie Bowser of Evening Shade and Robin Rider of Prim; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces; nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jesse Bowser; and one granddaughter, Zoe Ellen Wheaton.Services were held June 13 at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service with Bro. Ricky Burke officiating. Interment followed in the Roselawn Cemetery in Batesvile. Pallbearers were Rodney Bowser, Dale Howell, Steve Wheaton, Roy Goodman, Steven Joe Wheaton, Brian Bowser and Donnie Bowser. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the American Diabetic Association, 302 Executive Court, Suite 104, Little Rock, AR 72205.Arrangements were under the direction of the Howard Funeral Home of Melbourne.
