Alvin C. Sanders, 72, of Cherokee Village died May 27, 2003, at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home.
Born June 18, 1930, in Crane, Mo., he was the son of Alvin L. Sanders and Pauline Jenkins Sanders. He retired from the tool and die department of General Motors. He served his tool and die apprenticeship with AC Spark Plug Division of GM. He held numerous appointed and elected positions as a union representative for UAW-CIO. Sanders was promoted to supervisor of the tool room in 1973. He transferred to production engineering in 1975. He was promoted to staff engineer and manager production engineer. He retired in 1987 at a superintendent of all skilled trades at AC Milwaukee operations.
Sanders moved with his wife, Marilyn, to Cherokee Village in 1987. While living in Cherokee Village, he enjoyed many years of fishing, golfing and other activities. He was also a member of Highland Elks Lodge 2539.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn of the home; a son, Steven Sanders of Lucerne, Switzerland; three daughters -- Patricia Sanders of Oak Creek, Wis., Susan Baird of Racine, Wis., and Pamela De Grave of Wilson, Mich.; a brother, David Sanders of Grand Blanc, Mich.; a stepbrother, Harold Collins of Fenton, Mich.; four sisters -- Ruby Dunevant of Lake Wales, Fla., Frances Broecker of Hadley, Mich., Joyce Federico of Lake Wales, Fla., and Diane Rabb of Grand Rapids, Mich.; four grandchildren -- Shannon De Grave of Wilson, Mich., Cori Baird of Racine, Wis., Julia DeGrave and Nicholas De Grave both of Wilson, Mich.
A memorial service was June 3 at Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel in Highland.
Arrangements were under the direction of Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel.
