Carrie Emeline Whitten Barnett, 95, of Evening Shade, died Nov. 16, 2001, at Eastern Ozarks Regional Health System in Cherokee Village.
Born Sept. 10, 1906, at Cushman, she was the daughter of Jasper and Manerva Whitten. She married Adie M. Barnett Oct. 5, 1924, near Sidney. She was a housewife, a school lunch supervisor at Evening Shade School and a librarian at Evening Shade. She was a member of Evening Shade United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, -- Thelma and Ross Jackson of Lubbock, Texas, and Cora Lou and Paul Davis of Evening Shade; 11 grandchildren -- George Moss of Liberty, Texas, Gail Vickery of Baytown, Texas, Brenda Arnold of Wichita, Kan., Carolyn Benson and Susan McAlexander both of Lubbock, Sherron Johnson of Levelland, Texas, Perry Jackson of Houston, Ricky Davis of Heber Springs, Pam Buie of Batesville, Harlan Davis of Highland, and Laurie Weaver of Evening Shade; 27 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Eva Lee Paysinger of Batesville; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Roxie Moss; two brothers -- Bill Whitten and John Henry Whitten; three sisters -- Artie Thomas Pilant, Trixie Qualls Hoaney, and Jewell Whitten; and three infant great-grandchildren.
The service was Nov. 18 at Evening Shade United Methodist Church with the Rev. Loye Vern Mason officiating. Burial followed in Evening Shade Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
