Herbert Gerome Bass, 62, of Fontaine, died Dec. 4, 2001, at White River Medical Center in Batesville.
Born Oct. 16, 1939, in Fontaine, he was the son of Leonard and Myrtle Prack Bass. He was a self-employed carpenter for over 42 years and was of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include his mother, of Walnut Ridge; three daughters -- Melinda Bass of Jonesboro, Jackie Meredith of Bono, and Vickie Bass of Oklahoma; three sons -- Bill Bass of Cherokee Village, Joe Bass of Black Rock, and Scott Bass of Jonesboro; a sister, Barbara South of Sedgewick; two brothers -- Lovell Bass and Winford Bass, both of Fontaine; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Charlotte Lamb.
The funeral was Dec. 7 at the chapel of Higginbotham Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge. Burial followed in the Old Military Cemetery in Sedgewick.
Arrangements were under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Service Inc. of Walnut Ridge.
Pallbearers were Brandon Bass, Cody Bass, Eric Bass, Chris Hess, Bobby Maxie and Rick McComas.
