Ben E. Taylor, 92, of Batesville, formerly of Cave City, died Feb. 6, 2007, at the Wood Lawn Nursing Home in Batesville. He was born Dec. 8, 1914, at Evening Shade, Ark., to Sam and Leona (Arnold) Taylor.
He was employed by the Corp of Engineers working on the Mississippi River; a U.S. Army veteran having served during World War II; and a member of the Matlock Road Church of God in Cave City.
He is survived by: one sister, Eudean Thorne of Tennessee; three nieces, Geraldine Downs and husband John, Glenda Mills and husband Leonard all of Batesville, Maxine Woods and husband Lloyd of Velvet Ridge; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; his first wife, Eva (Wilkinson) Taylor; his second wife, Mirtie (Williams) Taylor; two brothers, Wilbert Taylor and Carlton Taylor; and two sisters, Zelphy Wolford and Norean George.
Funeral services were held Feb. 8 at the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with Rev. Eugene Garner officiating. Burial followed in the Cave City Cemetery with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Pallbearers were Eric Downs, Ryan Downs, Stephen Downs, Fred Arnold, Allen Brown and Walter Brown.
