Beth Leone (Porter) Shellard, age 83, of Hardy died Aug. 23, 2005, at White River Medical Center in Batesville. She was born March 8, 1922, at Stevenson Farm, Fayette, Iowa, to Glen A. and Edna Mae (King) Porter.
She was a graduate of the Dickinson Business School in Waterloo, Iowa, and worked for Viking Pump Company in Cedar Falls, Iowa, until June 1965, Woodland Hills Corporation in Hardy until April 1973 and the King Agency in Hardy from May 1973 to December 1995.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Laurence Clifford Shellard; one brother, Donald Porter; four sisters, Doris Porter, Laurette Garrey, Lucille Robinson and Grace Buhlman.
Survivors include one son, Gregory L. Shellard of Hardy; one granddaughter, Wendi (Shellard) Madenfort of Akron, Ohio; one great-grandson Gary William "Will" Madenfort of Akron, Ohio; two nieces, Joan (Robinson) Moore of Marshalltown, Iowa, and Lynne (Buhlman) Reith of Waterloo, Iowa; four nephews, Terry Shellard and Jerry Shellard, both of Nebraska, Tom Robinson of Bainbridge, Wash., and Jim Buhlman of Cedar Falls, Iowa; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Aug. 26 at the Katherine Graham Pahl Chapel in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Waterloo, Iowa, with Rev. Timothy Ensworth officiating. Burial followed in Memorial Park Cemetery in Waterloo, with local arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
