Bernard William Marshall, 72, of Hardy died May 16, 2002, at White River Medical Center in Batesville
Born Jan. 25, 1930, in Albion, Mich., he was the son of Bernard H. and Georgia Childers Marshall. He married Lillie Mae Couch Jan. 24, 1978, in Swifton. He was a Merchant Marine 2nd mate and worked for Midwest Towing/Cargil Steel for 40 years. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters -- Sharon Cornwell of Perkin, Ill., Renia Killgore of Nashville, Tenn., Janell Eason of Ringgold, Ga., and Kim Light of Dallas, Ga.; a son, Dale Rogers of Houston; two brothers -- Bert Marshall of Albion, and James Marshall of Jackson, Mich.; a sister, Georgia Scimes of Marshall, Mich.; 14 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
The funeral was May 21 at Higginbotham Funeral Service Chapel in Walnut Ridge with Jeremy James and Josh Smith officiating. Burial followed at Swifton Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Charlie Light, Jimmy Hayden, Jeremy James, O.D. Templeton, Joshua Smith and Eddie Ross.
Arrangements were under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Services Inc. of Walnut Ridge.
