Beatrice McKim, 85, of San Marcos, Calif., formerly of Hardy, Ark., died July 31, 2007, in California.
She was born on Aug. 19, 1921, in Barnesville, Ga. She moved to Detroit, Mich., when she was 12-years-old to live with an aunt and uncle to have more opportunities in life. After graduating at the age of 17, Beatrice went to beauty school. She became a hair-dresser and worked for the next 50 years. She loved her work and the people she met.She married Noble McKim "Mickey" at the age of 17 and lived happily with him until he died in 1982. She moved to Hardy in 1967 to retire, but opened a beauty shop and operated it many years before moving to California in 2004. She moved to be closer to her family, but she always missed the beautiful lakes of Cherokee Village and especially the friends she left behind.She is survived by: her daughter, Patricia Kohler; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Herschel Nichols of Texas.Graveside memorial services were held Aug. 19 at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Cherokee Village. Arrangements were under the direction of the Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland.
