Betty Meisenheimer

Hellen Elizabeth "Betty" Wright Meisenhimer, 84, of Cherokee Village died April 26, 2004, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Born Dec. 10, 1919, in Akron, Ohio, she was the daughter of George Maltby Wright and Majorie Byford Jerrems Wright. She moved with her husband, Dr. Martin Meisenheimer, to Cherokee Village in 1980 from Mount Prospect, Ill. Dr. and Mrs. Meisenheimer helped to start the hospital in Cherokee Village and operated the hospital as the only staff members for six months. Betty was a retired registered nurse, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and an auxiliary member of the Elks Lodge in Cherokee Village.

She belonged to the Cherokee Village Ladies Golf Association and St. Andrew's Episcopal Church of which she was a former member of the vestry.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Dr. Richard Jerrems Rizzo and wife, Joanne, of Salt Lake City, Utah; a daughter and her husband -- Nancy Byford Rizzo Maguire and husband, James, of Auburn, Md.; a sister and brother-in-law, Virginia "Ginny" Wright Skowlund and husband, David, of Cherokee Village; a stepdaughter and her husband, Liza Hovemo and husband, Pete, of Las Vegas; three grandchildren -- Remmy Maguire of Juneau, Alaska, and Rachel and Emily Rizzo of Salt Lake City; and a stepgranddaughter, Carleigh Hovemo of Las Vegas.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Dr. Martin Meisenheimer.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. May 7 at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Cherokee Village. Arrange-ments are under the direction of Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel of Highland.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the church.
