Billy S. Taylor, 86, of Batesville died Nov. 19, 2002, at White River Medical Center in Batesville.
Born Oct. 6, 1916, in Shelbyville, he was the son of Grover D. and Ellen Gest Taylor. He was retired from Ford Motor Company in Livonia, Mich., and was a brick mason in Arkansas. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World Wear II where he served in Seabees and was a member of Faith Hopewell Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Batesville.
Survivors include his wife, Avalene Milligan Taylor; two daughters -- Freda Main of Orange, Calif., and Sandra Samartino of Palm Springs, Calif; two brothers -- Gene Taylor of California and Ray Taylor of Cave City; two sisters -- Ruth Ann Ring and Patricia Offett, both of Kokomo, Ind.; two grandchildren, Jeff Hovis of Westminster, Calif. and Janet Cooper of Riverside, Calif.; two great-grandchildren -- Brandon and Brooklyn Cooper, both of Riverside; and several nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers -- Robert Taylor, Yancy "Dick" Taylor, and Jim Taylor; and a sister, Lucille Battapaglia.
The funeral was Nov. 23 at Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with Grayden Milligan and the Rev. Alan Meinzer officiating. Burial followed in Milligan Campground Cemetery located near Strawberry.
Pallbearers were Fred Milligan, Ed Ward, Lee Main, Jeff Hovis, Leonard Samartino and Kevin Nunnally.
Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Hunter Brown and Dr. Greg Neaville.
Arrangements were under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
