Bly Story, 88, of Tuckerman, died April 25, at his home. He was born Oct. 18, 1918, at Cave City, Ark., the son of the late King W. and Leona "Lee" (Ford) Story.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II, a farmer, coached basketball and baseball for eight plus years at Tuckerman High School where he had multiple district championships, was All-State basketball coach for two years, served on the Arkansas Electric Cooperative Board of Directors from 1999 and 2002 and served on the Riceland Food Board of Directors from 1957 to 2005. He was a member of the United Methodist Church at Tuckerman. Survivors include: his wife, Lavergne (Thrash) Story of the home; four sisters, Fay Story, Claynora Sweeten, Ivy Bea Lackey and Emy Lee Selby all of Little Rock; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by: his parents; one step-son Gary Crandall; and five brothers, Billy Ray Story, Kay Story, Guy Story, Tolley Story and Cory C. Story. Funeral services were held on May 1 at the United Methodist Church at Tuckerman with Rev. Roger Hook officiating. Burial followed in the Cave City Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of the Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City. Pallbearers were Rick Rorex, Paul Byrd, Danny Kennedy, Dr. Guilford Dudley, James Pigg, Bob Penix, Scotty Armstrong and Tom Gist. Honorary pallbearers were Marion Berry, Conley Byrd, Richard Bell, Riceland Foods Board, Gene Fletcher, Gus Graham, Bill Cockrill, John Conner Jr., Sam Boyce, Jerry Burchfield and John Wright.
