Conway Johns, 84, of Cave City died Jan. 30, 2005, at White River Medical Center in Batesville.
Born Nov. 25, 1920, in Cave Creek Community, he was the son of Shell and Nell Swearengen Johns. He was an Army-Air Force veteran of World War II, retired from farming and from Sharp County Courthouse, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Evening Shade.
Survivors include two sons -- Dale Johns and Van Johns, both of Evening Shade; three daughters -- Patricia Royal, Gail McCall and Nelleta Crumley, all of Cave City; nine grandchildren -- James Dale Royal, Ginger Clark, Jerry Dale McCall, Randall McCall, Kevin Johns, Angela Sutherland, Michael Crumley, Cynthia Crafton and Gwendolyn Wissel; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 60 years, Wanda Etheleen Sharp Johns; a son, Dennis Johns; and a sister, Bernice Haley.
The funeral was Feb. 1 at First Baptist Church of Evening Shade with Robert Hutchinson and Larry Weaver officiating. Burial followed at Bear Creek Cemetery west of Evening Shade. Arrangements were by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Pallbearers were James Dale Royal, Jerry Dale McCall, Randall McCall, Kevin Johns, Michael Crumley and Jimmy Crafton.
Honorary pallbearers were Ram Wissel, Lonnie Clark, Brien Sutherland, John Ables and Lynn Westmoreland.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Evening Shade.
