Leslie E. Clarke, 83, of Horseshoe Bend died March 12, 2002, at White River Medical Center in Batesville.
Born June 25, 1918, in Sycamore, Ill., he was the son of Ernest G. and Emily Joslin Clarke. He worked many years as an auto mechanic for Commonwealth Edison before retirement. He moved to Horseshoe Bend in 1979. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, the Eagles and the bowling club. He was a member of the Men's Club and Horseshoe Bend United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son and his wife, William L. and Sandra Clarke of Avalon, Wis.; a daughter, Carol Jean Clegg of Belvedere, Ill.; a brother, George Clarke of Moberly, Mo.; two sisters -- Erma Packard of Napierville, and Evelyn Green of DeKalb; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret; and a sister, Edith.
A graveside service was March 16 at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Dekalb, with local arrangements under the direction of Horseshoe Bend Memorial Chapel of Horseshoe Bend.
