Cyril Liston Pickren, 71, of Cave City died Oct. 12, 2003, at Cabot.
Born Nov. 12, 1931, at Telogia, Fla., he was the son of James Julius and Ethel C. Calhoun Pickren. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service as postmaster at Sidney. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church near Mount Pleasant.
Survivors include two sons -- Listen Pickren of Lake Butler, Fla., and David L. Pickren of Lake City, Fla.; three daughters -- Faith Banks and Laura Douglass, both of Lake Butler, Fla., and Toni Satterwhite of Mount Pleasant; a sister, Eloise Goodman of Stark, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara Pickren; a brother, J.J. Pickren; and a sister, Virginia Gish.
The funeral was Oct. 16 at Cornerstone Baptist Church with Bro. Elvis Sneathern officiating.
A graveside service was Oct. 19 at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Lake Butler, Fla., with Mike Norman and Dwight Hersey officiating.
Pallbearers were David L. Pickren, Listen Pickren, Josh Pickren, Danny Tomlinson, Dwight Smith and Mike Banks.
Honorary pallbearers were Billy Cowan and Eddie Douglass.
