Charles William Herron, 44, son of George A. Herron Sr. and Evelyn Wood Herron, was born April 9, 1961, in Weatherford, Texas. He died Dec. 28, 2005, at Olympia, Wash.
As a young father, Herron joined the United States Army. He retired after 20 years of service.
In July 2004 he began working for General Dynamics as a field engineer.
He was united in marriage to Angie Lee Schroeder on Dec. 26, 1992, in Waimanalo, Hawaii.
He was of the Church of Christ faith.
Survivors include his wife of 13 years, Angie Herron of Olympia; two sons, Hoyt Herron of Hot Springs, Ark., and Zeth Herron of Olympia; one daughter and son-in-law; Nikki and Chad Upchurch of Douglas, Ariz.; his parents, George A. Herron Sr. and Evelyn Wood Herron of Mountain Home; one sister and fiance, Marte Herron and Darren Smith of Mountain Home; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, George and Angela Herron of Mountain Home, and Wade and Cari Herron of Jordan; paternal grandmother, Lucille Pair of Weatherford, Texas; maternal grandmother, Lillie Smith of Shafter, Calif.; three grandchildren, Kai Herron, Khole Upchurch and Kenley Upchurch; and a host of other relatives and many good friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Bill Herron; his maternal grandfather, Bill Wood; and one uncle, Tommy Herron.
The funeral service was held Jan. 4 at the Calico Rock Funeral Chapel with Loye Vern Mason officiating.
Burial followed at Violet Hill Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Calico Rock.
Pallbearers were Scott Watts, Grant Bisey, Sheldon Schroeder, Wayne Billingsley, Hoyt Herron and Alan Estes.
Honorary pallbearers were Chad Upchurch, Gary Herron, Darren Smith, Mike Mahurin and Matt Mowatt.
