David Bruce Bostian, 57, of Bixby, Okla., died July 1, 2006, at his home.
He was born March 23, 1949, at Fayetteville, Ark., the son of David Bostian and Mary Mason Bostian.
He was an employee of Oklahoma State University working as superintendent of the Vegetable Research Station in Bixby since 1980.
He was a graduate of Highland High School, the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, with a bachelor's degree in agriculture, and Mississippi State University, with a master's degree in horticulture.
He has also worked as a research assistant in Clarksville and Hope, Ark.
He was a Christian and a member of First United Methodist Church of Bixby, as well as a member of the Green Country Model Railroaders Association.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Elaine Bostian of the home; one son, Rick Bostian of Springdale, Ark.; one daughter, Laura Lowry, and grandson Carter Lowry, both of Fairland, Okla.; his parents, Mary Bostian of Morrilton, Ark., and David Bostian of Springdale, Ark.; three brothers, Stephen Bostian of Mulberry, Ark., Charles Bostian of Springdale and Keith Bostian of Prairie Grove, Ark; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Graveside services were held July 5 at the Hardy Cemetery with Johnny Carter officiating.
Arrangements were by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Memorials may be made to the cancer society (colon cancer research) or the First United Methodist Church Care Center of Bixby or the piano fund.
