Donald Elijah Self Sr., 73, of Horseshoe Bend, died Tuesday, April 10, 2007, in Little Rock, Ark., at UAMS. He was born Nov. 9, 1933, in Brady, Texas, the son of the late Richard Warren and Pearl (Garner) Self.
He served his country with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, worked as a property manager at several hotels and condominiums and was a member of the boating and fishing club of Horseshoe Bend. Survivors include: his wife, Jean of the home in Horseshoe Bend; four sons, Gary Self and wife Darla of Japan, Donald Self Jr. and wife Patti of Las Vegas, Nev., Richard Self and wife Jonn of Bullhead City, Ariz., and Mark Self and wife Debra of Newark, N.J.; one daughter Judy Self of Orlando, Fla.; three brothers Richard Self of Mobile, Ala., Jerry Self of Las Vegas, Nev., and Ronald Self of Modesto, Calif.; two sisters, Patricia Self of Modesoto, Calif., and Peggy Self of Freemont, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service was held April 15 at the Horseshoe Bend Memorial Chapel in Horseshoe Bend. Arrangements were under the direction of the Horseshoe Bend Memorial Chapel.
