Donald Joseph Doctor, 86, of Ash Flat, Ark., died Dec. 24, 2007, at the Fulton County Hospital in Salem, Ark. He was born Oct. 17, 1921, in Orland Park, Ill., the son of the late Lawrence W. Doctor and Mary Ellen (Harrington) Doctor.
He was united in marriage to Betty Jane Buss on Feb. 11, 1947, in Joliet, Ill. He worked many years as an operating engineer and as a rancher. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. He is survived by: three sons, John Doctor of St. Louis, Mo., Michael Doctor of Mokena, Ill., and Thomas Doctor of Mokena; four daughters, Kathleen (Doctor) Pester of Ash Flat, Rosemary (Doctor) Rebenstorf of Oswego, Ill., Donnella Doctor of Ash Flat and Mary Carol (Doctor) Hammerstein of Mokena, Ill.; one sister, Delores DeBarbera of Joliet, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Betty Jane Doctor; his sister, Lucille Uthe; and his brother, Morse Doctor. A funeral Mass was held Dec. 29 at St. Mchael's Catholic Church in Cherokee Village with Father John Doctor, OFM, officiating. Burial followed in the Wiles Cemetery at Ash Flat.
