Dorothy M. Hoyt, 90, of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, died July 18, 2007, at a Iowa hospital after a brief illness. She was born Dec. 23, 1916, in Lake Geneva, Wis., the daughter of George and May (Stewart) Mathison
She married Frank Hoyt on June 18, 1938, in Lake Geneva. He preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 2002, in Cherokee Village.She was an avid bridge player and reader and still received the Cherokee Village newspaper. She loved to plant and take care of her flowers. She enjoyed the company of her friends.She was a member of Cherokee Village United Methodist Church in Cherokee Village.Survivors include: her two sons and their wives, Bob and Sue Hoyt of Sioux City, Iowa, and Jim and Judy Hoyt of Tempe, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Wade Hoyt of Tempe, Lisa Hoyt of San Diego, Calif., and Jason Hoyt with the U.S. Air Force serving in Iraq; and 12 nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; her parents; a brother, Stewart; and two sisters, Jean and Alice.The body was cremated. Memorial services will be held at a later date at Cherokee Village United Methodist Church in Cherokee Village, Ark.Arrangements are under the direction of the Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
