Doyle Max Lawrence, 85, died Dec. 14, 2002, in Batesville.
Born Nov. 18, 1917, in Melbourne, he was the son of Max and Ella Smith Lawrence.
During his working years he was a cattle farmer. He married Verlene Stroud Sept. 22, 1942, in Salem. He was a member of Belview Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Janice Lawrence of Shreveport, La.; three sons and a daughter-in-law -- Glenn Lawrence of Kansas City, Mo., Larry Lawrence of Melbourne, and David Lawrence and his wife, Toni, of Melbourne; a sister, LaNelle Hall of Nixa, Mo.; a brother, Malcolm Lawrence of Melbourne; and seven grandchildren -- Michael Lawrence, Brandon Lawrence, Chad Lawrence, Blake Lawrence, Mary Ann Lawrence, Whitney Moorehead and Lacey Lawrence.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters -- Elsie Ruth Menges, Gwendolyn Mathis and Genevieve Parker.
The funeral service was Dec. 16 at the Roman and Billy Howard Memorial Chapel with Gayle Cooper officiating. Interment followed in Lawrence Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Michael Lawrence, Brandon Lawrence, Chad Lawrence, Josh Moorehead and Blake Lawrence.
Honorary pallbearers were Lloyd Parker, Bobby Joe Lawrence, Paul Cooper, James Cooper, David Clark, Darrell Ball, Jack McCollum, Lloyd Parker Jr. and Don Hall.
Arrangements were under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home.
