Luther Dunn Jr. 81, of Hardy, died Jan. 13, 2002, at Ash Flat Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born Aug. 15, 1920, in Daly City, Calif., he was the son of Maria Morales Dunn and Luther Dunn. He was retired from Berry Auto Parts in Hardy and retired with over 24 years of service with the Hardy Fire Department. While there he served a year as assistant chief. He served 10 years on Hardy City Council, was on the board of Ozark Baptist Camp and was a member and deacon at Foothills Baptist Church in Hardy. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include two sons and their wives -- Alan and Jeannie Dunn of Jonesboro, and Jeff and Ruth Dunn of Mountain Home; two daughters and their husbands -- Sharon and Doyl Phelps of Agnos, and Lonna and Jim Read of Hardy, and five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, May E. Dunn on March 29, 1999; The funeral was Jan. 16at Heath Oak Hill Chapel with Norvin Jones and Gerald Bolin officiating. Funeral honors were presented by the Jonesboro Fire Department Honor Guard. Burial followed in the Oaklawn Cemetery at Highland.
Arrangements were under the direction of Heath Oak Hill Chapel.
