Ethel A. Holloway, 91, of Ash Flat, formerly of Newport, died Dec. 28, 2002, at Ash Flat.
Born March 3, 1911, at Cave City, she was the daughter of Thornton Elijah and Laura Maude Stout Cantrell. She was a homemaker and a member of the Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing and quilting
Survivors include a son, Thornton Holloway, and his wife, Aline, of Judsonia; a daughter, Leneil Taylor of Ash Flat; a brother, Alphieus Cantrell of Valejo, Calif.; two grandchildren -- Joe Holloway and his wife, Tammy, of Judsonia, and Susan Holloway of Friendswood, Texas; and three great-grandchildren -- Heather Holloway, Phillip Holloway and Aaron Holloway.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Harmon Holloway, July 1, 2001; her parents; three brothers -- Mark Cantrell, Alvin Cantrell and Othel Cantrell; and three sisters -- Dortha Hardaway, Letha Brock and Matoka Cantrell.
The funeral was Dec. 30 at Jackson's Newport Funeral Home Chapel with David Burgess officiating. Interment followed in Gracelawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Walker, Jerry Walker, Jerry Burgess, Roger Burgess, Eugene Burgess, Red Payne and Dan Burgess.
Arrangements were under the direction of Jackson Funeral Homes Inc. of Newport.
