Edward Bernard McFarren, 75, of Horseshoe Bend died March 7, 2006, at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was born Jan. 1, 1931, in Chicago, Ill., the son of the late Edward Jay and Marguerite Alberta Newcom McFarren.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of the Methodist faith and the America Legion Post 344.
During his working years he was a product planning foreman of the machine shop at the Chicago Bridge and Iron Nuclear.
Survivors include his wife, Florence Zlomke McFarren of the home; two sons, Kenneth Jay McFarren of Lake Villa, Ill., and Robert Edward McFarren of Houston, Texas; one daughter, Debra Lynn Gabos of Duluth, Ga.; eight grandchildren, Eddie Gabos and Angela Gabos both of Deluth, Ga., Dean Slayman of Virginia, Jennifer McFarren, Kenneth McFarren and Joey McFarren, all of Lake Villa. Johnny McFarren and Jeffrey McFarren of Houston; and other friends and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one daughter Evleyn Kay Boles.
The funeral services were held March 10 at Horseshoe Bend Memorial Chapel. Arrangements were under the direction of Horseshoe Bend Memorial Chapel.
