Elizabeth Deloras Shew, daughter of Elmer and Chloe (Walters) Moss, was born in Adair County, Mo., near Novinger on July 15, 1926, and died Sept. 21, 2006, at Pearl's II Eden for Elders in Princeton, Mo., at the age of 80.
She was married to James Benjamin "J.B." Shew on Feb. 4, 1946, in Troy, Kans. He preceded her in death on Dec. 28, 1989. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Brandi Jo Duff; and by a daughter-in-law, Nancy Shew.
She is survived by two sons, Danny Shew and wife Marsha of Princeton, Mo., and Mike Shew and wife Ginger of Kansas City, Mo.; two daughters, Nancy Heath and husband Ewell of Poughkeepsie, Ark., and Patty Duff and husband John of Cainsville, Mo.; four grandchildren, Becci Shew of Princeton, Jamie Shew and wife Dawn of Lawrence, Kans., Katie Thompson and husband Brien of Cainsville, Mo., and Jonnie Beavers and husband Keith of Mercer, Mo.; four great-grandchildren, Jake and Annie Shew, and Shannen and Ashten Thompson; one brother, Gerald Moss of Unionville, Mo.; and other relatives and friends.
The Shews lived in Wichita, Kans., for 20 years where she worked as a licensed practical nurse at St. Francis Hospital. They returned to Mercer County, Mo., in 1970, where she was employed as an LPN at the Axtell Osteopathic Hospital in Princeton until the hospital closed.
She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church of Princeton.
