Erma E. Martin Bishop, 94, of Salem died Dec. 20, 2003, at Fulton County Hospital in Salem.
Born Oct. 8, 1909, at Ash Flat, she was the daughter of Edmond Martin and Ella Howard Martin. She married Bert Kenneth Bishop Dec. 4, 1926, at Ash Flat. To this union two children were born. She was a wonderful wife and mother, totally dedicated to her family. She was a member of Salem First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law -- Jerry and Linda Bishop of Salem; her daughter, Bernice Bishop of Salem; her grandchildren -- Sandra Clayton of Salem, Gina Utley and husband, Tim, of Atlanta, Texas, Marty Bishop and wife, Heidi, of Killeen, Texas, and Randy Bishop of Jonesboro; great-grandchildren -- Holly Pate and husband, Mark, Amber Qualls and husband, Chris, Grantland Utley and Reece Utley; and great-great-grandchildren -- Bethany and Emily Pate, and Macy Qualls.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1991; a brother, Tom Martin; five sisters -- Alberta Robinson, Vera Hightower, Lula Manry, Liza Gilbreath and Bertha Gilbreath; three half-sisters; and her father and mother.
The funeral was Dec. 23 at Cox-Blevins Chapel with John Hodges officiating. Burial was at Saddle Cemetery with Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem in charge of the arrangements.
