Earl Franklin Mayes, 74, of Cave City died May 24, 2004, at Cave City Nursing Home.

Born March 10, 1930, at Tansboro, N.J., he was the son of James Franklin and Emma Hutton Mayes. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force as a tech sergeant, having earned 26 years. He was a retired electrician, a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion.

Survivors include two sons -- Jimmy Mayes and Kevin Mayes, both of Cave City; three daughters -- Pam Conley of Cave City, Tina Attig of Southside, and Linda Healey of Florida; two sisters -- Joyce Barkoff of Cave City, and Lorraine Villari of Evening Shade; many grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Pearl Mayes.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
