Emil J. Hilbert, 82, of Cherokee Village died Oct. 18, 2004, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.
Born Nov. 28, 1921, in St. Louis, Mo., he was the son of Karl Hilbert and Theckla Wehner Hilbert. He was a Sea Bee in the Navy during World War II.
He married Dolores Hubecky in 1965 in Florissant, Mo. He worked many years as a baker in his own bakery. Mr. and Mr. Hilbert moved to Cherokee Village 22 years ago from St. Louis. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Cherokee Village.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores Hilbert of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Lou Ann Hilbert of Lawrence, Kan.; a daughter, Amy M. Hilbert of Boulder, Colo.; a brother, Paul Hilbert of St. Louis, Mo.; and two grandchildren -- Xavier and Quinn Hilbert.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Carl Hilbert.
A memorial mass was held Oct. 22 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Cherokee Village with Father Tony Wilwerding officiating. The mass was preceded with a rosary.
Arrangements were under the direction of Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel of Highland.
