Everett Walling, 86, of Springdale, formerly of Jesup, died June 22, 2003, at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale.
Born Feb. 12, 1917, in Sharp County, he was the son of James Robert and Olie Mac Douglas Walling. He was a retired farmer and a member of Springdale Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters -- Joy Taylor and Dian Maxwell, both of Springdale, and Ellen Massey of Fort Smith; eight grandchildren -- Sheena Ober of Bentonville, Gregory Taylor and Tim Taylor, both of Springdale, Vickie Jones of Smithville, Brad Maxwell of Strawberry, Brent Massey of San Antonio, Lisa DeMuth of Iowa, La., and Amanda Massey of Fort Smith; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Lucy Davis Walling; his parents; four brothers -- Jim Walling, Harmon Walling, Ezra Walling and Elmer "Preacher" Walling; and two sisters -- Oma Davis and Eula Richey.
The funeral was June 25 at Union Missionary Baptist Church near Smithville with Jeff Richards and Howard Brewer officiating. Burial followed at Hillhouse Cemetery near Smithville. Arrangements were under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Pallbearers were Gregory Taylor, Tim Taylor, Mike Ober, Brad Maxwell, Randy Jones and Grayson Taylor.
