Freeman Thomas Barker Jr. of Cherokee Village, son of the late Freeman Thomas and Lillian Gertrude (Adams) Barker, was born March 15, 1936, in Rockport, Ind. He died Dec. 5, 2006, at the Fulton County Hospital in Salem at the age of 70.
He was united in marriage to Donna Marie Hawkins on Nov. 20, 1964, at Kokomo, Ind. He worked as a carpenter. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the First Church of God in Kokomo, Ind.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Barker of Cherokee Village; two sons, Jeffrey Barker (Kimbereley) of St. Louis, Mo., and Vance Barker (Joyce) of Reelsville, Ind.; two daughters, Sandra Garrett (Roger) of Kokomo, and Debra Pierce (Mike) of Kokomo; one brother, Leroy Ramburger, of Kokomo; seven grandchildren, Greg Everling, Blake Barker, Ashlee Barker, Megan Bristol, Joshua Bristol, Thomas Barker and Donovan Barker; one great-grandchild, McKenzie Bristol; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Bill Ramburger; and a sister, Karen Butcher.
Memorial services were held Dec. 7 at the Barker Funeral Home Chapel in Salem with Bro. John Hodges officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of the Barker Funeral Home of Salem.
