Veda Pauline Finchem, 70, of Highland died June 15, 2002, at her residence.
Born Sept. 28, 1931, she was the daughter of Ernest Archie and Ollie Saloma Stone North. She married Marlin Calvin Finchem Sept. 10, 1949, in Red Oak, Iowa. She was a homemaker, loved to sew, paint, draw, garden and work on her family genealogy.
Survivors include two sons -- Myron Finchem and David Finchem, both of Hardy; four daughters -- Pam Millsap of Silver City, Iowa, Pat Finchem of Brandon, Miss., Cathy Severn of Horseshoe Bend, and Sandi Hamon of Hardy; three brothers -- Jay North of Omaha, Neb., Earnie North of Glenwood, Iowa, and Ronnie North of Calico Rock; a sister, Waneta Havener of Fort Myers, Fla.; 22 grandchildren, and 37 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a sister, Donna North Miller, a brother, William Preston North, and a great-granddaughter, Quintina Finchem.
The funeral was June 19 at Higginbotham Funeral Service Chapel in Hardy with Floyd Rikard officiating. Burial was in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Services Inc. of Hardy.
