Fern I. Romine

Fern I. Romine, of Salem, daughter of the late Raymond T. Hayes and Velma Thacker Hayes Austin, was born March 10, 1939, in Shafter Township, Fayetteville County, Ill. She died Sept. 4, 2007, at Fulton County Hospital in Salem at the age of 68.

She was united in marriage to Lenord Dairell Romine on Oct. 23, 1957, at Salem. To this union two children were born.During her working years she was employed by Puritans Fashions in Thayer and Tri-County Shirt Factory in Salem for many years. She was a member of the Heart Church of Christ.Survivors include: her husband, Dairell, of Salem; her children, Lois Curtis and husband Rex of Mulberry Grove, Ill., and Peggy Corbett and husband Larry of Mammoth Spring; grandchildren; Bryan Corbett and wife Whitney, Bradley Corbett and wife Jessie and Ross Smith; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Landon, Adrianna and Eden; a brother, Tuffy Hayes of Mulberry Grove, Ill.; and a sister, Nina Emerick of Vandalia, Ill.She was preceded in death by: a sister, Joyce Hayes; and her father and mother.Funeral services were held Sept. 7 at the Cox-Blevins Funeral Home Chapel in Salem. Burial followed in the Salem Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of the Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem.
