Floyd Willis Murphy, 86, of Ash Flat died March 19, 2002.
Born April 8, 1915, in Ravenden Springs, he was the son of Tom Jeff Murphy and Martha Lula James Murphy. He was married July 15, 1946, in Hardy to Blanche Taylor.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. He was a school bus driver for Williford School District for many years and was a farmer. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters and sons-in-law-- Sue and Buford Hancock of Salem, and Joy and Mike Kunkel of Evening Shade; four grandchildren -- Peggy Long of Hardy, Lisa Ladd of Williford, Cheryl Foley of Thayer, Mo., and Paula Powell of Ash Flat; and seven great-grandchildren, Lauren, Lindsey, Hope, Logan, Jarred, Jacob and Jordan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a great-grandchild, Carly Ladd; a brother, Willie Murphy; and a sister, Pearl Ehrhardt.
The funeral was March 22 at Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with Tom O'Neal officiating. Burial was in Thayer Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Buford Hancock, David Ladd, Roger Foley, Mike Kunkel, Scott Long and Steve Powell.
Arrangements were under the direction of Carter Funeral Home Inc. of Thayer.
