Floyd O. Mitchell, 86, of Batesville died Dec. 7, 2002, at White River Medical Center in Batesville.
Born Nov. 27, 1916, at Anderson, he was the son of Taylor and Maude Ford Mitchell. He was a retired farmer and cattleman. He farmed and raised cattle for 52 years at Poughkeepsie, and was a long-time member of the Cattleman's Association.
In 1961, he and his wife, Opal, received the Sharp County Farm Family of the Year award. He was a member of Harrison Street Church of Christ in Batesville.
Survivors include his wife of eight years, Nancy Mitchell; three sons -- Donnie Mitchell of Charleston, Paul G. Mitchell and Floyd Dwight Mitchell, all of Batesville; a daughter, Wrenetta Ann Mitchell Wilson of Hot Springs Village; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a stepson, Dale Smith of Mount Pleasant; four step-daughters -- Connie Clark of Batesville, Christine Shaw and Lanell Love, both of Mount Pleasant, and Louise Cook of Sidney; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 58 years, Opal Lorina Barnes Mitchell; an infant son, Bernice Dwayne Mitchell; five brothers; and three sisters.
The funeral was Dec. 10 at Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with Troy Henley and Tom German officiating. Burial followed in the Alderbrook Cemetery at Desha.
Pallbearers were grandsons Michael Rogers, Mitchell Rogers, Mark Wilson, Marty Rogers, George Mitchell and Mike Mitchell.
Honorary pallbearers were grandsons Greg Mitchell, Earl Mitchell, David Mitchell, Bo Mitchell, Chris Mitchell and Paul S. Mitchell.
